2-lb. rabbit shares meals with 2-ton rhino

Thanks to The Bunologist for pointing me towards this great story!

It seems that every day, a little bunny waits for the rhino's hay stack to be delivered then scurries through the gate to "share" in the bounty. And the rhinos don't mind one bit. The action takes place at the Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo, NSW, Australia.

What a wonderful reminder that peace is possible, even between the two unlikeliest animals. Hoppy Holidays!

Why I call them bunnies and not rabbits

Paul asked me a while ago, "Why do you call them bunnies and not rabbits?" Interesting question...

Rabbits are bigger. Even SweetPea, who tops out about 7 pounds now (huge next to her 2- to 4-pound siblings), is a bunny. The big 'uns are like Flemish Giants. They're rabbits. Mr. or Mrs. Rabbit if you don't want them to sit on you. The little guys are just bunnies.

However, when I talk to non-bunny people, I make sure to specify "house rabbits" to emphasize the indoor quality of their domicile.

Do you call your house rabbits "bunnies" or "rabbits"?

Rabbits calendar

Thanks, B! As dependably usual, my brother Brett gave me the Browntrout Rabbits calendar for Christmas, which came late this year because I just went home last weekend for the ol' Christmas celebration.

The cover pic looks a bit like the agouti bun is thinking of having some fun with the blond babe he's got there, but that's just my own perception. =:-3

The calendar, as dependable as Brett is, is filled with adorable bunnies of all sizes. Was going to say "shapes and sizes," but they're all pretty much the same shape. How about "colors and sizes"? That works... Calendars.com, you rock.
